It has been just over a year since I took over as President/CEO of United Tax Services, Inc. My vision from the very first day was to take this affiliated in-house tax fulfillment partner to the next level, and reengineer into a diverse, national product provider with a broad customer base. While there is still much to do, the first 12 months were a remarkable, record setting ride. As our business continues to flourish, it is vital to find the key personnel pieces to help navigate the path to success. I am pleased to introduce two of those pieces to you today.
Matt Berzins, SVP, Director of Business Development
I was fortunate to hire Matt at my previous start up endeavor. Matt brings incredible energy to the table, every single day. He is the head of Sales and Business Development and is one of the best in this business. Matt will also be leading our Education Team, which provides TDI accredited CE training classes. Our first course entitled, “Property Tax Best Practices,” will be our roll out to support our wonderful Escrow Officers and assistants with their required CE hours.
Ryon Alcorn, Production Manager
Ryon and I worked together many years and his straightforward, transparent approach is exactly what was needed in our production department. With over 3 decades of operational experience, Ryon is as well versed in tax fulfillment as anyone I have ever known. Specializing in complex property tax issues, Ryon understands the daily challenges facing both escrow and examination, providing clear, concise and timely solutions to the customer.
The most important thing about these two professionals is that they wholly embrace our core beliefs at United Tax Services, Inc.; Accomplished Design. Exceptional Service.
I also want to take this time to thank Capital Title and Shaddock Companies, for the outpouring of support right from the very start. Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude.
As 2020 winds down, our hearts go out to all of those affected by COVID-19 and now, more than ever, it is imperative for us to be united in our empathy for those struggling within our communities. During this difficult time of pandemic, division and discord, we also need to look for those rays of light that reflect hope for the future.
I woke up this morning with a head full of questions and concerns about my family, friends and employees. How long will this pandemic last? Are we headed for another shutdown? As an essential business we have been very fortunate. Our business continues to trend positively, riding the wave of a vibrant refi housing market and continued market expansion. However, while this projects a positive outlook for our company and most of the title industry, we must maintain compassion for small businesses, restaurant owners, private contractors, and those in the service industry who depend on the ability to interface with others for a living.
The entrepreneurial spirit is robust and the people who have poured their life’s work into a belief are generally chocked full of perseverance and resiliency. In almost every case, they have endured a measure of adversity to get where they are, all the while, positively touching the community and lives of countless employees. Just as we celebrate this mindset at United Tax Services, we encourage you to do the same by dropping into the local independently owned diner for a quick sandwich, take your vehicle to the trusty local mechanic, or maybe go see your favorite local band. Let’s pour our support back into our communities and local businesses. Let’s make a difference, do it safely, follow the guidelines laid out by medical professionals, and live our lives; we’ve only got one.
Relax and be happy.
